Обговорення фільму «Мова» в рамках Школи лідерства Caritas School | Discussion of the Film ‘Language’ within the Caritas School Leadership Program|

19 січня учні Caritas School у рамках Школи лідерства переглянули та обговорили фільм українського режисера Сергія Лисенка «Мова». Короткометражка повернула учасників у 2014 рік на Схід та Південь України, де багато людей не володіє українською мовою.

Діти прожили кілька днів з героями стрічки - волонтерами, які організовують безкоштовні курси для всіх охочих, а також привозять у міста й містечка книжкові ярмарки, музичні гурти, проводять зустрічі з письменниками. Перед початком перегляду модераторка Марія Симкович у програмі MentiMeter провела опитування щодо того, якими будуть їхні очікування від заходу та що діти знають про тему мови та волонтерства. Так, учні знають як волонтери допомагають під час війни та навіть самі є волонтерами. Знають, що українська мова нереально важлива, особливо під час війни, вона може допомогти знайти співвітчизників закордоном, вона є нашою зброєю, а також є дуже милозвучною.

Після перегляду фільму учні поділилися враженнями, проаналізували ключову тему, яку доносить до нас режисер. За словами глядачки, Анастасії Ісмаїлової, стрічка викликала і сумні, але разом з тим і приємні емоції. «Мені дуже фільм сподобався. Я вважаю, що його слід подивитися всім українцям. Що волонтерам дуже важко і їм потрібно допомагати та цінувати працю. Також що і дітям, і дорослим обов’язково потрібно вчити українську мову. Не цькувати, а краще допомогти вивчити українську», - ділиться враженнями дівчинка. Після обговорення модераторка Марія Симкович об’єднала дітей у групи для творчого завдання – складання з уривків творів поезії українських письменників. Відтак після результатів обговорили роль освіти та чому важливо вчитися, вивчати та поширювати українську мову. 

Discussion of the Film ‘Language’ within the Caritas School Leadership Program

On January 19, students of Caritas School, as part of the Leadership Program, watched and discussed the film Language by Ukrainian director Serhii Lysenko.

The short film transported participants back to 2014 in Eastern and Southern Ukraine, where many people were unfamiliar with the Ukrainian language. The students spent a few days with the film's characters—volunteers organizing free Ukrainian language courses, hosting book fairs, musical performances, and meetings with writers in towns and cities.

Before the screening, moderator Mariya Symkovych conducted a poll using the MentiMeter platform to gauge the participants’ expectations for the event and their knowledge about the topics of language and volunteering. The students expressed awareness of how volunteers assist during the war and even shared their personal experiences as volunteers. They also emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian language, especially during the war, as a means of connecting with compatriots abroad and as a vital and melodious cultural weapon.

After the screening, the students shared their impressions and analyzed the key themes conveyed by the director. According to one of the viewers, Anastasiia Ismailova, the film evoked both sorrowful and uplifting emotions.

"I really liked the film. I believe it’s a must-watch for all Ukrainians. Volunteers face great challenges, and their work should be supported and appreciated. Both children and adults need to learn Ukrainian. Instead of judging, we should help others learn the language," the young girl shared.

Following the discussion, moderator Mariya Symkovych divided the students into groups for a creative task—assembling poetry excerpts by Ukrainian writers. The results sparked a conversation on the role of education and the importance of learning, promoting, and preserving the Ukrainian language.
